WHAT IS AN ORIGINAL MULTIPLE?
An original multiple is exactly what it sounds like - it is an original painting by Simon Schneiderman painted multiple times. Some ideas are just too good to do once only. So he does them several times but each time the colours and the technique change, making them all unique. Simon also writes an original little story on the back of each painting, adding to their exclusivity. That's how he can maintain their affordability.
HOW DO ARTISTS PRICE THEIR WORK?
Artists price their work according to size, time it takes to paint, cost of materials, the market demand but also, and this is not to be underestimated - the time it takes to think. Have you ever thought, or heard people say - I could paint that? Maybe you can, but you didn't, because you didn't THINK of it. Thinking is hard work, and when we like something it is often because of the invisible, even though we are looking and seeing. And that invisible is THINKING.
BACK TO ORIGINAL MULTIPLES
So Schneiderman had done the thinking and we are all happy with the results. But now, instead of thinking he is re-thinking - colour, material, a story - and the results are great affordable paintings!
